States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) elect a President every year during the Conference of States Parties (CSP) to preside over the CSP the following year, including the preparatory process.

The following persons have served as Presidents to the CSPs:

    Ambassador Federico Villegas of Argentina was the President of the Sixth Conference of States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty. Ambassador Villegas succeeded Amabssador Carlos Foradori as President, following Ambassador Foradori's departure from Geneva in June 2020.

    Ambassador Jānis KĀRKLIŅŠ of Latvia was the President of the Fifth Conference of States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty.

  • Ambassador Nobushige Takamizawa of Japan

    Ambassador Nobushige Takamizawa of Japan was the President of the Fourth Conference of States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty. During his term as President, Ambassador Takamizawa undertook several universalization outreach visits to Southern Africa, Southeast Asia and South Asia (more).

  • Ambassador Klaus Korhonen of Finland

    Ambassador Klaus Korhonen of Finland was the President of the Third Conference of States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty. During his term as President, Ambassador Korhonen undertook several universalization outreach visits to Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Vienna.
