Bridging gaps and building understanding: Gender, GBV and the Arms Trade Treaty
The thematic focus on gender and gender-based violence (GBV) as part of the CSP5 preparatory process is a welcome opportunity for States Parties to take stock of existing practice in this area and identify where knowledge and implementation gaps remain. This side event is intended to bridge some of those gaps, through expert-led discussions and inputs on key questions, including but not limited to:
The linkages between arms transfers and different forms of gender-based violence;
Understanding gendered impacts of arms, versus gender-based violence;
Identifying data sources to assess the risk of GBV.
